With closed beta signups beginning now, and two other platforms previously announced, CD Projekt Red is pushing this game hard.
Since it was announced earlier this year Fantasy Flight Games and CD Projekt Red have been keeping the lid pretty tight on additional details about The Witcher Adventure Game. In addition to the printed board game and iOS version, CD Projekt has announced that it will be coming to Mac and PC. Using GOG’s new Galaxy service, the game will also have a multiplayer service, with a closed beta beginning soon. The game will be available on Steam as well, with Galaxy’s cross-play service supporting both platform’s players.
Players will take on the role of Geralt of Rivia, Triss Merigold, Dandelion the Bard, and Yarpen Zigrin the Dwarf to work semi-cooperatively fighting monsters and investigating mysteries across the dark fantasy world of The Witcher. Each character will have their own unique deck of cards and customized dice for tackling challenges. Each character develops uniquely along one of several paths during each playthrough of the game, lending a sense of customization reminiscent of the computer RPGs the board game version draws inspiration from.
Designed by popular polish tabletop game designer Ignacy Trzewiczek, designer of other games like 51st State and Robinson Crusoe: Adventure on the Cursed Island, The Witcher Adventure Game should be quite a treat if Trzewiczek delivers on his talents as a designer.
