CCP Games has announced the latest update to its space-based MMOG EVE Online, which will offer “formal support” for Linux and OS X.

The Revelations 2.3 patch will be released on November 6 with numerous bug fixes, but most significantly will offer compatibility with non-Windows operating systems. Minimum system requirements are as follows:

Cedega:

  • OS: Ubuntu 7+, Suse 10+, Linspire 6
  • CPU: CPU speed equal or greater than 1.8 GHz Centrino
  • RAM: 1 GB
  • HD space: 6 GB
  • Video: Nvidia 6600; ATI is not supported.

Cider:

  • OS: OS X 10.4.9 or later.
  • CPU: Intel based computer with CPU speed equal or greater than 1.8 GHz; the client does not run on a PPC.
  • Video: ATI X1600 or Nvidia 7300
  • RAM: 1 GB or more
  • HD space: 6 GB

Players looking for a preview of either of the new clients are invited to download and install the software and then connect to CCP’s Multiplicity test server for a test run. More information including download links and installation instructions are available at the official EVE Online website.
