It’s A Phoenix Wright Musical!

Apparently Phoenix Wright is a good man too, because it looks like he’s getting his very own musical!

The announcement was made following a Gyakuten Saiban concert, and while details are sketchy (and largely Japanese, which is a unique hassle all its own) the musical is being put on by the Takarazuka Revue, an all-female group described by the Gyakuten Saiban LiveJournal site as “the top shit of the theater world” in Japan.

According to the post on LiveJournal, the Phoenix Wright musical will be set in the U.S. and will use American character names rather than the original Japanese, and will feature a new “love romance that doesn’t exist in the game.” The show is being written and directed by Suzuki Kei, and the lead role of Phoenix Wright will be played by Ranju Tomu.

Phoenix Wright: The Musical will open in February 2009 in Takarazuka and will also run in Tokyo in late February and early March. Further updates will presumably be made at the Takarazuka Revue website as they become available.
