8 Must-See Trailers from E3 2017

This article is over 7 years old and may contain outdated information

The week before and of E3 is always a time filled with game announcements, cinematic and gameplay trailers, and a whole lot more. This year is no exception. We’ve been watching trailers all week, and we’ve picked out eight that we think everyone should see.

Think we missed one? Tell us what it is in the forums!

Far Cry 5

The first look at gameplay in Far Cry 5 showed up at E3, and it not only shows off the violent cult you’ll be squaring off with, it also features the friends you’ll team up with the take it down. Oh, and one of them is a dog that brings you guns.

Super Mario Odyssey

The newest Mario platformer is Super Mario Odyssey, and it adds an entirely new mechanic, allowing Mario to possess some enemies, including a dinosaur. As the trailer shows, there are plenty of environments to explore. You’ll need to find Moons to power your airship so you can rescue Princess Peach before she’s forced to marry Bowser.

Anthem

Bioware’s new IP make a big splash when it was shown off at EA’s press conference. While it certainly looked good, many gamers are still skeptical of how this one will turn out. That said, the trailer looks great, and the different exosuits (which appear to act as classes) might be a very interesting way to play. We’ll have to see how it turns out.

Days Gone

Days Gone may have been shown off at E3 last year, but this year Sony doubled down on the open-world game, adding a freaking zombie bear wrapped in barbed wire. You can also see how you can use the game’s zombies against your enemies.

Assassin’s Creed: Origins

After taking a year off from releasing a game in the Assassin’s Creed series, Ubisoft is back with Assassin’s Creed: Origins. Set in ancient Egypt, the game promises to show off the very beginnings of the Brotherhood of Assassins. There are some gameplay changes here too, including a gear system and an eagle that serves as a sort of drone.

Crackdown 3

Microsoft’s exclusive third-person action game came to E3 with a new spokeman – Terry Crews. After a passionate statement, you get to see the gameplay starring the Crews-based character. I just feel bad for all the other characters that won’t get picked because he’s in the game.

God of War

We’ve known since E3 last year that Kratos was returning in a Norse-themed God of War. This year, we got to see a closer look at the game that not only stars Kratos, but also his son Atreus. This year’s trailer focuses on the interaction between the two, and also shows off some of the gameplay we can expect in the game.

Beyond Good & Evil 2

Beyond Good & Evil 2 gets the top spot simply because it was the most unexpected. After all, it had only been three weeks since its creator, Michel Ancel, had said that the game would not be making an appearance at E3. But it did, and it closed out Ubisoft’s presser with a bang. We don’t know when the game will launch, but this trailer certianly caught the attention of gamers.
