A bug in online play causes bans for Super Smash Bros. 3DS players using Princess Peach in “For Glory” mode.

Nintendo confirmed today a bug has been causing temporary bans from online play in Super Smash Bros. 3DS. Nintendo states it will have a fix in about a week.

The temporary bans happen when a player uses Peach’s ability to pull turnips in the “For Glory” online mode, competitive online play on the Final Destination stage with no items. When Peach pulls a turnip, the game issues a one-day ban.

However, the ban does not always occur. One player named Mochi streamed the game while he played as Peach and was banned on his twelfth match while pulling turnips as Peach. Mochi found that it was much more likely to get banned when pulling out a turnip at the very beginning of a match.

Other characters, such as Link, have moves where they pull out items. It’s possible the bug only affects Peach’s turnips because the item is available in the Customize mode.

Super Smash Bros. 3DS is out in Japan, and a demo version is available for select Club Nintendo Platinum members. The demo will be publicly available September 19, but players can only launch the demo up to 30 times. The game will launch in full in North America and Europe on October 3. Super Smash Bros. 4 will also be available on the Wii U this holiday season.
