Agent Carter Adds Enver Gjokaj and Chad Michael Murray

Marvel’s Agent Carter casts Enver Gjokaj of Dollhouse and Chad Michael Murray of One Tree Hill as regulars.

Enver Gjokaj and Chad Michael Murray will join Haley Atwell and Dominic Cooper in Marvel’s Agent Carter as series regulars when it premieres this January. Agent Carter, for those unaware, is a series based on the character of Peggy Carter from the Marvel films Captain America: The First Avenger and its sequel, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, as well as the Marvel One-Shot (short film), Agent Carter. The premiere season will air during the mid-season break of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, which returns to ABC this September.

Gjokaj and Murray will play character Agent Daniel Sousa and Agent Jack Thompson, respectively. The agents work alongside Carter in the Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR) in 1946 New York. Carter is tasked with working in an administrative role while secretly tackling missions for Howard Stark (also from the first Captain America film and father of Iron Man, or Tony Stark). Agent Carter also will face marginalization due to the return of men from fighting overseas.

Murray is best known for his role as Lucas Scott in One Tree Hill, but Gjokaj should be very familiar to fans of Joss Whedon. Gjokaj is best know as Victor on Whedon’s Dollhouse, a part that required Gjokaj to play a variety of personalities as well as characters already established in the series. Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas, showrunners of Agent Carter, were producers on Dollhouse.

Interestingly, Enver Gjokaj has already made an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with a cameo as a police officer in The Avengers.

Whedon has a hand in most things created in the MCU since Avengers. His brother, Jed Whedon, and Jed’s wife, Maurissa Tancharoen, are showrunners of Agents of SHIELD, which included Whedon alumni J. August Richards and Amy Acker. So the inclusion of Gjokaj in Agent Carter isn’t very shocking, but is still a pleasant surprise for fans of Whedon’s projects, which also include Firefly and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
