Xbox One users will soon be able to customize their backgrounds, add more content to profiles, link Xbox live accounts to Twitter accounts, view trending content, and more.
The next Xbox One update will add features Xbox One users have wanted for a while. Personalization of backgrounds and extra content for profiles are coming to all Xbox One users in November, but these features are available to Xbox One preview program members now.
A video with Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb at Xbox and Xbox engineering team’s Richard Irving goes through the details of the update, beginning with customization of the console’s home background. Hyrb notes the most requested feature has been custom backgrounds The November update will allow Xbox One users to set a custom background from achievement art. After viewing the unlocked achievement, players can choose to set it as the home background. An update in October for the media player will also allow Xbox One users to set a custom background from any image.
“Gamer profiles” on the Xbox One also have personalization on the way. Users can add a location and a bio to their profiles. Furthermore, users can pick a “showcase” to display six items from achievements and game clips on profiles.
Xbox is increasing sharing by adding Twitter integration for posting game clips on users’ Twitter accounts as well. After adding Twitter to an Xbox Live account, players can use the Share button on a game clip and select Twitter to write a tweet with the clip.
Other additions concern trending content, TV, store improvements, friends’ game activity, updates to Internet Explorer, and gamifying to the Preview dashboard.
A full list of features and their details for November are available to read on Xbox’s site.
