See the Content Returning Grand Theft Auto V Players Get on Current-Gen

This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information

People who played Grand Theft Auto V on Xbox 360 or PS3 who return to the game on PC, PS4, or Xbox One get exclusive vehicles and a new mission.

Grand Theft Auto V players who own the game on Xbox 360 or PS3 and buy the Xbox One, PS4, or PC version will receive some exclusive content, Rockstar Games announced. Returning players will gain access to special vehicles, weapons, events, and a new mission.

New events allow players to obtain the Dodo seaplane and the Imponte Duke o’ Death vehicle. Participating in stock car races unlocks custom muscle cars. Other vehicles returning players can use include a blimp and a Cheval Marshall monster truck. Rockstar states classic Grand Theft Auto vehicles are on the way as well.

Rockstar also stated returning players will obtain two weapons: the rail gun, which has shooting range challenges, and the hatchet.

Other than the vehicles and weapons, returning players will become caught up in a murder mystery as Michael and photograph new animal species as Franklin. Completing the former unlocks two noir style filters for photos. The latter unlocks the Kraken Sub. Additionally, players who photograph monkey silhouette street art unlock monkey outfits and a Go Go Monkey Blista. The monkey outfits are available to all players, returning or not.

Grand Theft Auto V first launched on the Xbox 360 and PS3 in September 2013. People who purchased the PS3 or Xbox 360 special or collector’s edition last year with exclusive content can still access that content on the Xbox One, PS4, and PC. New players can use in-game cash to purchase the content on current-generation consoles. Furthermore, Grand Theft Auto Online character progress and created jobs will also transfer over to new systems. However, players should note they can only transfer characters over once. Players can still play with their characters on the PS3 or Xbox 360 after transferring them to PC, PS4, or Xbox One, but the progress will not be shared among systems.

The new versions of Grand Theft Auto V launch November 18 for PS4 and Xbox One and January 27, 2015, on PC.
