Disney has confirmed that Frozen 2 is in development.

It was pretty inevitable, but now it’s official: Frozen 2 is in development. Rumors have been circulating about the project for quite some time, but now Disney is happy to announce we will once again be serenaded by Elsa, Anna and Olaf. Kristen Bell, the voice of young Anna, confirmed the news with this adorable Tweet, and the image you can see to the right.

“After months of speculation, Bob Iger, John Lasseter and actor Josh Gad (voice of Olaf) announced from the stage that Frozen 2 is officially in development at Walt Disney Animation Studios,” Disney said in a statement. “The film will reunite the Oscar-winning filmmaking team behind Frozen, including director Chris Buck, director/writer Jennifer Lee and producer Peter Del Vecho. A release date and production details are yet to be announced.”

As for what the second film will revolve around, well, the ending of the first movie was rather definitive, but that hasn’t stopped Disney before. Given the global popularity of the franchise, we can probably assume that this one won’t be going direct-to-dvd.

Frozen became the highest grossing animated film of all-time last year, and is the fifth biggest film in box office history, behind Avatar, Titanic, The Avengers and Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows.
