EVO, one of the biggest fighting tournaments in the world, has announced it is ditching the buggy PS4 port of Ultra Street Fighter IV.
When Ultra Street Fighter IV was announced for PS4, fans were ecstatic at the idea of being able to play their favorite fighter in glorious HD. The fact that it supported all of the old PS3 fight sticks made it a no-brainer for inclusion into this year’s EVO fighting game tournament, in place of it’s last-gen cousin. However, things were not so rosy when people quickly discovered that Ultra Street Fighter IV‘s PS4 version had more bugs than an anthill. Sony acknowledged the problem and promised to fix it, but EVO isn’t taking any chances, scrapping the PS4 version of the game from it’s roster in favor of the Xbox 360 edition.
“We are happy to announce that the Ultra SF4 tournament at EVO 2015 will be played on XBOX 360!” Tweeted Joey Cuellar, one of the EVO organizers.
The Xbox 360 version of the game is the previously recognized community standard, as it featured a few slight improvements over its PS3 cousin (such as reduced input lag). Before the PS4 edition of the game was announced and subsequently released, the 360 version was to be featured at the tournament.
