Nintendo Hypes us For E3 With Another Crazy Reggie Video

This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information

Reggie is bringing back the Nintendo World Championships for this year’s E3.

Last year, Nintendo blew us out of the water with an amazing E3 announcement video, and an even better digital direct event. This year, crazy Reggie is back, training for the Nintendo World Championships which will take place this E3 for the first time in 25 years. Check out the video in all its glory to the right.

Just for a refresher, the original Nintendo World Championships were held in 1990 across America as a cross-promotion for the Nintendo World Championships NES game. The competition was based on scoring points in the custom cartridge’s three games (Super Mario Bros., Rad Racer, and Tetris) within a time limit of 6 minutes and 21 seconds, and was based loosely on the 1989 classic: The Wizard.

The new Nintendo World Championships will take place before E3, from June 14. Information on how to register will be made available soon, with qualifying confirmations starting at the end of this month.

Additionally, the video revealed that this year’s Nintendo Digital Event will take place June 16 at 9 a.m. PT, and that Mario Maker will be playable at over 120 Best Buy locations during the E3 week – in much the same way that Super Smash Bros. was available last year.

Be sure to keep an eye on the official Nintendo E3 site for more information on the company’s E3 presence.
