Nintendo will continue to deliver new information about its upcoming titles… directly to you.
One of the best moves Nintendo made in the past few years was the introduction of the “Nintendo Direct”. Essentially, taking advantage of up-and-coming streaming services like Twitch, Nintendo would deliver new information on its upcoming games to fans and journalists alike, in an easy-to-watch series of web videos. The problem, of course, is that Satoru Iwata was very much the face of these videos, and with his passing, their future was somewhat up in the air. Thankfully, Nintendo has confirmed that the directs will continue, sans Iwata.
Speaking to IGN, Nintendo said that “Nintendo Directs will continue,” but added that “we have no details to provide now on who will be featured or the topics that will be covered.” New Nintendo top dog Tatsumi Kimishima certainly doesn’t look like the kind of guy who would get up to the same goofball antics as Regie, Miyamoto, and Iwata, but who knows? He had better brush up on his “please understand” delivery.
Speaking of, one thing we can probably expect is to see Regie and Miyamoto return to the directs, and will hopefully hear more about them soon.
