Diablo 3‘s Biggest Patch Since RoS Launches Today

This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information

The game’s biggest patch since the Reaper of Souls expansion adds a new zone, new set dungeons, and dozens of new items.

Back at BlizzCon last year, Blizzard revealed Diablo 3‘s massive 2.4 patch, the game’s biggest content drop since the Reaper of Souls expansion launched two years ago. Today, the patch has gone live, and it brings with it a new zone, new “set dungeons”, and over fifty new legendary and set items.

Other new features for those of you who are bored at “endgame” include the ability to “empower” rifts with gold, giving you an extra chance to upgrade a legendary gem, and a new Kannai’s cube recipe that consumes legendary gems in order to buff up the stats on your ancient legendary items.

There are also countless balance and minor changes that are too numerous to list here, so be sure to check out the full patch notes from Blizzard to find out what is in store for your class of choice.

The fine folks over at Diablo Fans have also put together quite an extensive roundup of all the new stuff in the patch, and streamer Drahque has put up a nice list of the new patch’s most popular builds.

Just as an FYI, though the new patch has launched today, Season 5 won’t start until January 15, so you’ll have a bit of time to tinker around with builds before diving into the new season. It’s also worth noting that none of the new items added in the patch are season-exclusive, meaning you’ll be able to get your hands on all of the new goodies no matter what your playstyle.
