Pokemon GO Water Festival Begins Today, Boosting Water Pokemon Spawn Rates

A new Pokemon GO event kicks off worldwide today, focused on water-type Pokemon.

If you’ve been having a hard time tracking down your favorite water-type Pokemon in Pokemon GO, the newest in-game event may be of interest to you. Starting today, the week-long Water Festival will increase your chances of finding water-type Pokemon, assuming that you’re in an area where they normally appear. Yes, that includes Lapras.

There’s also a new item in the wardrobe for you to wear, and I know that it’s exactly what you’ve been waiting for – a Magikarp hat.

The event begins today at 4 PM ET, and runs through Weds. March 29 at 4 PM ET. That gives you a full week to catch all the water-type Pokemon you can. Just don’t go looking in a Wisconsin state park until Niantic files their permit.
