Death Stranding Directors Cut release date new features weapons racecar trailer Director's Cut

Death Stranding Director’s Cut Release Date Set for September, Has Racecars

During PlayStation’s State of Play today, Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding Director’s Cut received a new trailer and September 24, 2021 release date on PlayStation 5. It will be the definitive experience of the game remastered, providing a wide range of new items and features. For instance, there will be new weapons for Sam, such as a laser gun and mounted machine guns, as well as new combat mechanics like upgraded melee attacks. Additionally, there will be new battles and a firing range to practice in.

Death Stranding Director’s Cut will also contain more delivery support options like the Cargo Catapult, where you can shoot your cargo across long distances, and the Buddy Bot, which is an automatic pair of legs that can carry cargo by itself as it moves alongside you. The new Jump Ramp allows Sam to build momentum and ride across cliffs, and there’s the new Fragile Circuit, which is a racecar track that you can, well, race in.

Lastly, there are some new story missions for Sam to tackle, so that will hopefully add some more lore to the Death Stranding universe.

Death Stranding originally launched in 2019 for PlayStation 4 with a PC release later on in July 2020. The director’s cut was announced last month during Summer Game Fest. Now, Death Stranding Director’s Cut has its release date set, and the PlayStation.Blog has some additional details. Notably, if you own the original release on PlayStation 4, you will be able to upgrade to the new version for only $10.
