Marvel’s Midnight Suns Delayed to Second Half of 2022

Firaxis Games and 2K have delayed card-based superhero strategy game Marvel’s Midnight Suns from its original March 2022 release window, and it will now launch in the second half of 2022. A statement uploaded on social media clarifies the reasoning for the delay. In short, Creative Director Jake Solomon and Senior Franchise Producer Garth DeAngelis simply said that the team needs “more time to make this the best game possible.”

“We believe in our creative vision for Marvel’s Midnight Suns and want to do justice in delivering an unforgettable adventure in the supernatural side of Marvel,” Solomon and DeAngelis said. “These extra months will be used to add more story, cinematics, and overall polish and will be essential in helping us make our vision a reality.”

Marvel’s Midnight Suns was revealed in August as the next strategy game from the developers behind the XCOM series. Though the Marvel spinoff is said to share no gameplay similarities with XCOM, the studio’s trademark strategy angle has been more than apparent. We got an even better look at the card-based hero game in a September gameplay reveal that broke down how the game’s systems will work and interact with each other. Though Marvel’s Midnight Suns is delayed for now, it will come to PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S eventually.
