The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) got festive this year with Hawkeye and is looking to do so again this year with The Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas Special, but that isn’t the only holiday it’ll be celebrating. Disney+ will be getting an MCU Halloween special reportedly based on the comic character Werewolf by Night, and Laura Donnelly has joined Gael Garcia Bernal in the cast.
None of the series details are fully confirmed, but Deadline reports that the Halloween special will likely star Bernal as Jack Russell / Werewolf by Night, a not-so-well-known-but-classic Marvel hero, who turns into a werewolf but retains his human mind. Donnelly, who is best known for her role on The Nevers, may potentially be playing his niece, Nina Price / Vampire by Night. The character is a vampire / werewolf hybrid who, like her uncle, fights crime when she turns into either a vampire or werewolf.
Marvel is about to take a deep dive into its more mysterious side if these werewolf MCU Halloween special reports are true. We already have Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight coming in, and that character was actually introduced in an issue of Werewolf by Night. There is also the upcoming Blade film starring Mahershala Ali, which will obviously open up the vampire world to the MCU as well. That’s not to mention that the teaser trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness also apparently showed that evil Doctor Strange from What If…? will be making an appearance. This branch of the MCU is going to get weird, and it will be interesting to see how it all can tie into the ongoing Avengers storylines.
Shooting on the MCU special is set to begin in the coming months with a release on Disney+ around Halloween.
