Ready for some not-so-groovy news? It seems that getting a boomstick to work just right is going to take a bit more time. Evil Dead: The Game, which had already seen one delay since its announcement in December of 2020, has had its release date delayed once again. Ash and the rest of the gore-splattered characters from across the franchise showing up in it will now release on May 13, 2022.
Hey Evil Dead fans!
When we set out to create a brand new game worthy of the Evil Dead franchise, we knew it had to be groovy as hell. In order to deliver the best possible experience, Evil Dead: The Game is now coming on May 13, 2022. pic.twitter.com/BfuaOdcFVT

Developers Boss Team Games and Saber Interactive are citing the need for more development time to make the game “groovy as hell,” which probably means they just don’t have it where they need it to be yet. As with most delays, it is probably for the best as a fully functional game dropping is better than something being rushed out, especially when that game has a heavy multiplayer and online focus. It also means that the game can drop on Friday the 13th, which is kind of fun.
Evil Dead: The Game is a multiplayer survival horror game along the lines of theĀ Friday the 13th video game. In it, players will be able to select from a slew of characters from the three movies and the television show in order to kill Deadites and seal off the door between their world and ours, which was probably opened once again by Ash being an idiot. Or, if you want to be the bad guy, you can play as the Kandarian Demon itself and try to kill the folks playing as the good guys.
Of course, noĀ Evil Dead product would be complete without Bruce Campbell being involved in some way, even if it’s just as a producer, so the actor is returning once again to voice Ash for the game. A new trailer and some new information on the game are coming in February, so stay tuned.
With its new May 13 release date following the delay, Evil Dead: The Game is still set to come to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
