Summer Games Done Quick 2022 SGDQ charity speedrun speedrunning Doctors Without Borders Yakuza: Like a Dragon LAD Halo Infinite Final Fantasy X Kirby and the Forgotten Land Pokemon Brilliant Diamond Shining Pearl Elden Ring

Summer Games Done Quick 2022 Schedule Is Live: Elden Ring, Kirby, Halo Infinite, & More

Games Done Quick has released the games schedule for Summer Games Done Quick 2022 (SGDQ 2022), a week-long speedrunning charity event that will raise money for Doctors Without Borders. It packs a particularly great lineup of games this time, almost no matter where you fall on the gaming spectrum, and it even includes some nice mods / ROM hacks.

There are a lot of headliners to discuss in the SGDQ 2022 schedule. Chiefly, it will conclude with two back-to-back Elden Ring speedruns, including an any% run and a run that does all Remembrances. (The latter will be meatier than that wild sub-7-minute run.) There will also be aĀ Kirby and the Forgotten Land any% run, a Halo Infinite “All Missions No Tank Gun” run, a Mass Effect “Any% No Mako Glitch” run, a Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna ~ The Golden Country any% glitchless run, and glitched and glitchless any% runs of PokĆ©mon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

That’s just the tip of the SGDQ iceberg. There are tons of terrific indie games, such as Tunic, and too many iconic classic games to list in full. There are also several classics showing up in modded form, such as Final Fantasy X with a mod to skip cutscenes, a randomizer race for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, another randomizer race for Final Fantasy VI, and the horrifically difficult Kaizo Super Metroid.

Personally, I’m most excited for the Tuesday lineup. It includes the Mega Man block (Powered Up, The Wily Wars, Mega Man 5, and either Mega Man Xtreme 1 or 2), followed by Yakuza: Like a Dragon. These are intensely relevant to my interests.

For the uninitiated, Games Done Quick has been conducting speedrunning events for charity for more than a decade now, and its most recent event, Awesome Games Done Quick 2022, raised a record-high $3,440,325 for Prevent Cancer Foundation this past January. The event typically occurs in person with an audience, but since COVID began, it had shifted to a strictly online model. SGDQ 2022 will be the first time since COVID began that the event will be conducted in person again, but it will be a hybrid event that also incorporates some players doing speedruns remotely.

Summer Games Done Quick 2022 will run June 26 – July 3, streaming live on Twitch and available to watch in person in Bloomington, Minnesota, and the schedule for the event is live.
