At the September 2022 Nintendo Direct, Shigeru Miyamoto showed off the Pikmin 4 announcement trailer for Switch, with a new perspective.

Pikmin 4 Actually Exists: Shigeru Miyamoto Shows Off Its New Perspective

Pikmin 4 for Nintendo Switch made a stunning debut in an announcement trailer during today’s September 2022 Nintendo Direct. Although not much was shown off, series creator and Nintendo icon Shigeru Miyamoto made an appearance to premiere a bit of what seems to be in-engine footage from the next entry in the franchise. Although he was a bit shy to talk about how Pikmin 4 will change up the formula, he did confirm that it will feature more of an on-the-ground perspective instead of the top-down view fans might be used to. He also confirmed that Pikmin 4 will launch sometime in 2023.

It’s not much, but you can see the Pikmin 4 announcement trailer below, with the Direct cued up below it to when Miyamoto talks about the game.

This is all Nintendo is willing to officially state about the game so far:

The first sneak peek at the next game in the Pikmin franchise revealed a tranquil park and a napping Bulborb, but it was still missing one important element … Pikmin! Where could they be? More details about this new title for Nintendo Switch will be revealed ahead of its 2023 launch.

It’s clear that Nintendo intends to drip-feed information about this release, so stay tuned for more.
