The Legend of Vox Machina Season 2 First-Look Clip Delivers Dragons, Season 3 Confirmed

The Legend of Vox Machina was well received by both fans and non-fans of the tabletop RPG series when it debuted on Amazon last year and introduced a broader audience to its ultra-violent and yet lovable cast of characters. Now, thanks to a panel at NYCC, we’re getting our first-look at The Legend of Vox Machina season 2 with a video clip featuring dragons and… pretty much dragons. Also at the panel, the cast confirmed that the show would be getting a third season.

The clip probably occurs sometime in the first episode, as when we left our heroes at the conclusion of the first season they were in the midst of celebrating their triumph when a bunch of dragons appeared thanks to their killing of a dragon in the pilot episode. Now, it seems, that dragon’s pals are out for destructive revenge. These dragons make up the Chroma Conclave, which is what this season’s storyline will be lifted from. In order to defeat the dragons — in true RPG format — the gang of heroes will need to collect a bunch of weapons that can kill them. It’s a fantasy series based on a tabletop RPG; plot originality isn’t key.

What is key is just how well the show delivers on its characters. The series has a hidden heart behind the humor, blood, and curse words that makes The Legend of Vox Machina one of the more personal and touching stories out there in terms of fantasy. Evidently,Ā Vox Machina season 2 will dive even further into that personal touch with characters unpacking their relationships further like twins Vaxā€™ildan and Vexā€™ahlia having their relationship further strained and the possibility of the bard Scanlan Shorthalt becoming something more than just a singing horndog. It’s a lot to do in just one 12-episode season, so this story arc will actually be split between season 2 and newly confirmed season 3.

Just in case you can’t remember the beginning of the year when the first season ofĀ The Legend of Vox Machina debuted, here’s Scanlan rapping about it.
