Best Gadgets in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Ranked

An image from Marvel's Spider-Man 2 showing the web-shooters in a menu filled with the game's various gadget as part of a ranked list talking about the best of them.

5 – Web Shooters

The trusty old Web Shooters are your primary starting gadget. They’re easy to upgrade early on and provide you with a ton of defensive utility as well as some great offensive use as well. From plastering enemies to the wall to helping you stop tank turrets, they’re excellent to use. The downside is they have quite a limited amount of shots at a time. You’ll only be able to lock down an enemy or two at a time and other gadgets are far more effective at locking down multiple targets. They’re more of a supplementary gadget that you can weave into combat easily while other gadgets and skills are recharging, so while they’re still great, they’re not the best that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has to offer.

4 – Sonic Burst

The Sonic Burst is a gadget that lets you set of an concussive blast around you. It’s great for helping you dismantle and deal with large groups of enemies. When you’re being rushed and shot at by several enemies at once it’s easy to be overwhelmed. With this gadget, you can stun and knockback the enemies around you. This then frees you up to reposition and take down some of the shooters while the stunned enemies recover. It becomes even more effective as it’s upgraded, but it’s decent early on as well.

3 – Upshot

The Upshot can be obtained early on. It’s a gadget that can stun and launch multiple enemies into the air. It’s incredibly useful crowd control and opens enemies up to being hit by your combos easily in the air. It’s upgrade line is really good as well for improving it further. You’ll get plenty of solid use out of this gadget. It’s particularly valuable against enemies that can guard against your strikes because they’re vulnerable in the air.

2 – Web Grabber

The Web Grabber is one of the absolute best gadgets to use in combination with the skills Peter and Miles have in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. It’s a gadget that grabs a bunch of enemies from around you and groups them up into a nice pile. You can then use a skill likes Miles Venom Slam that deals big damage in a circle to zap them all down. Similarly you can use Peter’s skills with the robot spider legs to hit them all at once.

1 – Ricochet Web

The Ricochet Web gadget is the one that takes the longest for you to unlock, but it’s also the best Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has to offer. It’s like using the Web Shooters on steroids. It fires around a shot that can bounce between multiple enemies and web them up. This is a huge help in dealing with aerial enemies and just groups of enemies in general. It solves the problem the standard Web Shooters have of only being able to deal with a target or two at a time. Webbing up enemies is quite a long disable and can take enemies out of the fight altogether if they’re already damaged. Once you have this gadget unlocked, you should absolutely give it a few upgrade and try it out. It will serve you well!

Those are all the gadgets in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 ranked. They’re all great gadgets in their own right and have some great applications. I found the Ricochet Web and Web Grabber gadgets to be standouts during my playthrough. They helped me out of many tight spots, perhaps they’ll do the same for you!
