Should You Use Iris of Grace or Iris of Occultation on Fire Knight Queelign in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

It may differ from player-to-player.

At the end of Fire Knight Queelign’s quest in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree you’ll have a choice on what item to give him. Here’s whether you should use the Iris of Grace or the Iris of Occulation on Queenlign in Elden Ring.

At the end of Queenlign’s quest, you’ll find him behind a locked door that requires the Prayer Room key, which you’ll acquire by defeating Queenlign twice. You can then find Queenlign in the Shadow Keep after draining the water.

There is no definitively better option between using the Iris of Grace or the Iris of Occultation on Fire Knight Queelign in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, as your choice should be determined by your build or playstyle.

Each of these items will provide you with a different reward. Should you use the Iris of Grace, then Queelign will drop the Fire Knight Queelign Spirit Ash. If you give him the Iris of Occultation you’ll get Queelignā€™s Greatsword.

What Happens if You Choose to Give Fire Knight Queelign the Iris of Grace?

If you give Fire Knight Queelign the Iris of Grace in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree he will disappear, leaving the Fire Knight Queelign Spirit Ash.

This Spirit Ash will summon the spirit of Fire Knight Queelign. But this Spirit Ash is costly, taking 132 FP to summon. It’s also not nearly as good as a Mimic Tear or Black Knife Tiche.

What Happens if You Choose to Give Fire Knight Queelign the Iris of Occultation?

When you give Fire Knight Queelign the Iris of Occultation, he will drop Queelign’s Greatsword, a new weapon introduced with Shadow of the Erdtree. This weapon scales with strength, dexterity, and faith.

To use Queelign’s Greatsword, you must have 14 points in Strength, 18 in Dexterity, and 12 in Faith. The sword’s default weapon art is Impaling Thrust.

If youā€™re a player who doesnā€™t use Spirit Ashes or sticks to just the Mimic Tear, then weā€™d suggest using the Iris of Occulation as the weapon he provides will be most useful to you. However, players who want to collect every Spirit Ash and try them all out may want to choose the Iris of Grace.

Again, this decision should be reflected by your playstyle and thereā€™s no right or wrong answer here. Unfortunately, your choice is permanent and you canā€™t go back and swap at a later date during your first playthrough. The silver lining is that during new game+, you’ll be able to get the item you didnā€™t choose, so there’s an opportunity for committed players to collect both.

While Fire Knight Queelign might be hidden behind a locked door, you shouldnā€™t have too much trouble finding the Iris of Occulation or Iris of Grace before making this choice, as theyā€™re spotted quite frequently across the map. In fact, explorers may have already picked up the Iris of Grace available inside Shadow Keep.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is available now.
