Netflix South Korea webtoon Now at Our School All of Us Are Dead zombie TV series

All of Us Are Dead Is a Netflix Original Korean Zombie Series

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Korean zombies. So hot right now. Netflix has announced that they’ve ordered a new series of Korean zombie action called All of Us Are Dead. The show is an adaptation of well-received web comic Now at Our School. That comic focuses on a group of students who get locked in their school during a zombie pandemic, forcing them to survive on their own. Netflix is claiming the series will offer a “fresh take” on the genre, though people being trapped somewhere during a zombie apocalypse is hardly fresh.

With the trailer for Peninsula, the sequel toĀ Train to Busan, landing just a few days ago and Netflix’s own Kingdom bringing Korean zombies to the rest of the world, the unique and surprisingly deep take on the walking dead that Korea brings to the genre could give us something special. All of Us Are Dead is written by Chun Sung-il and will be directed by Lee JQ and Kim Nam-su.

Of course, Korean zombies aren’t the only thing to be coming out of the nation.Ā Parasite won the Best Picture Oscar this year and created an onslaught of Korean shows and films coming to other countries and classics being revisited. Netflix itself has The School Nurse Files, My Holo Love, and ExtracurricularĀ currently in development. The Korean film wave that started in the ’90s, known as Hallyu, is definitely hitting its apex, and it seems zombies might be leading the way.
