Bungie clarified saying that development has been impacted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite learning new and creative ways to work from home, the studio needs more time to achieve the level of quality that it has committed to for the expansion.

That also means that Season of Arrivals will now extend to Nov. 10, and Bungie will share more details about Beyond Light as the new release date nears.

In Destiny 2: Beyond Light, players will explore the icy world of Europa and discover a new dark power known as Stasis. It’s the first new element to join Destiny since its original launch back in 2014. A new raid called the Deep Stone Crypt is also being added.

Bungie announced its three-year roadmap for Destiny 2 last month. Each year includes a brand new expansion, starting with Beyond Light, which was originally supposed to launch on Sept. 22. The second expansion, The Witch Queen, is set to release in 2021, and the third one, Lightfall, in 2022.

Destiny 2 will also be supported on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X with 4K visuals and 60 FPS when they launch this holiday.
