Following a surprising leak from late last night, Cuphead has been officially revealed for PlayStation 4 – and it’s available today. Studio MDHR took to Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest live stream today to announce the jump to yet another platform. The studio went all out with its (kinda creepy) stop-motion reveal video, which you can watch below.
Keighley and MDHR also shined some light on more Cuphead news during the live stream, including when fans can hope to get their hands on the long-awaited DLC, The Delicious Last Course. MDHR admits that it may have announced the add-on content just a bit early, and its release date is just “when it’s ready.” However, The Delicious Last Course will launch simultaneously on all platforms, so PlayStation fans won’t have to wait any longer than others despite only receiving access to the game today. The Summer Game Fest stream also provided a quick update on Netflix’s The Cuphead Show!, which is said to be making great progress.
Cuphead made a name for itself when it brought authentic, classic visuals and sounds to Xbox One and PC in 2017. For a while, it seemed as though MDHR would never bring its difficult platformer to other devices, but then the game poured onto Nintendo Switch in 2019. Still, a PlayStation 4 release really never seemed likely, making today’s shadow-drop announcement all the more exciting.
