It looks like Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers, as it’s known in Japan, has been localized as Persona 5 Strikers and will officially release in western territories on Feb. 23, 2021. This comes from a new announcement trailer on YouTube from publisher Atlus West’s official channel. However, it has since been made unavailable, indicating that this announcement was premature.
The game will release on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, as well as an additional PC version for the west. The announcement of the Steam port was cleverly revealed through the game’s characters exchanging text messages at the end of the trailer.
Persona 5 Strikers is a real-time Dynasty Warriors Musou-type game that intermixes with Persona 5‘s unique mechanics and battle system. Last month, a few Asian retailers had listings up for the game with the now-confirmed release date of Feb. 23, 2021.
Persona 5 Strikers released for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on Feb. 20 this year in Japan, while the Korean and Traditional Chinese language versions launched on June 18. Given that the trailer went live at the wrong time, one could only speculate that this may have been a 2020 Game Awards announcement.
Some people were quick enough to download the trailer and reupload it. Check out one of them below. Now that the cat is out of the bag, it’s up to Atlus West to properly announce the game soon.
