Days Gone Comes to PC This Spring, a ‘Whole Slate’ of PlayStation Titles Coming Later

In an interview with GQ, PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan confirmed that more PlayStation titles will be making their way to PC, starting with Sony Bend’s Days Gone this spring.

According to Ryan, there were several reasons for this decision. He cited the success of Horizon Zero Dawn‘s PC release as a benchmark, where players actively liked the game and purchased it. Additionally, there wasn’t any sort of negative backlash within the PlayStation community about bringing Horizon Zero Dawn to PC, so Sony decided to move further with this initiative beginning with Days Gone.

The economics of game development and the opportunity to cultivate a wider audience were factors that played a part in the decision as well. “The cost of making games goes up with each cycle, as the caliber of the IP has improved,” said Ryan. “Also, our ease of making it available to non-console owners has grown. So it’s a fairly straightforward decision for us to make.”

The GQ article additionally stated that there will be a “whole slate” of releases, so it will be interesting to see which other specific PlayStation games will receive PC ports. Days Gone originally launched in 2019 for PlayStation 4.

Xbox meanwhile has already been openly supportive about releasing its own first-party titles on PC, including through Steam, as Forza Horizon 4 is making its way onto the service next month. Now it looks like PlayStation is following suit.
