Ghost of Tsushima Movie Adaptation in the Works from John Wick Director

If a Ghost of Tsushima movie directed by John Wick’s Chad Stahelski sounds like a dream come true to you, then you’ll be happy to know that that exact film is officially in the works. Sony and PlayStation Productions are indeed creating a film adaptation of Sucker Punch Productions’ 2020 samurai action game, though when the film will arrive is anyone’s guess.

Stahelski, Alex Young, and Jason Spitz will produce the Ghost of Tsushima movie via their company 87Eleven Entertainment, with Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan producing for PlayStation Productions. Sucker Punch’s Peter Kang will oversee the project on behalf of the studio, which will serve in the executive producer role. The film will tell the tale of samurai Jin Sakai waging an “unconventional war” to free Tsushima.

Qizilbash offered comments on the push to create a Ghost of Tsushima movie adaptation: “We’re excited to be partnering with Chad and 87Eleven Entertainment, to bring their vision of Jin’s story to the big screen. We love working with creative partners like Chad, who have a passion for our games, ensuring we can create rich adaptations that will excite our fans and new audiences.”

This is far from the first video game adaptation to come from Sony and PlayStation Productions. There is the Uncharted movie starring Tom Holland, and there are also shows based on The Last of Us and Twisted Metal in the works.

Meanwhile, Stahelski is already signed on to work on other projects, such as John Wick 4 and another unnamed action project that has been described as Die Hard meets Indiana Jones.”
