Artix Entertainment: Mad Haberdashers & Scientists

This article is over 15 years old and may contain outdated information

The latest Artix Entertainment developer journal focuses on the continuing drama for DragonFable players. Called “Mad Haberdashers & Scientists”, you’ll be treated to a groovy “Alice In Wonderland” retelling. We call it “Alice in Chain…saws”. Check it out!

Artix Entertainment: Mad Haberdashers and Mad Scientists!

We’re all a little mad here…

Just over a month ago, the Heroes of the online RPG DragonFable ( http://www.DragonFable.com ) discovered first-hand what happens when you go chasing Togs down a mysterious rabbit hole. The fantastic world of Wanderland greeted them with many surprises and dangers, ranging from maniacal Cheshire Moglins to the incredibly sour Queen of Tarts! Our Heroes even witnessed the Queen imprisoning the young shop-girl Aria, thinking she was a spy sent to steal her baking secrets! In order to save Aria, our Heroes have to wander about Wanderland, seeking help from Carroll-inspired characters. Throughout our Heroes’ journey, they have shrunk to mouse-size pipsqueaks, blown-up to giant proportions, battled a bubble-blowing kittypillar, and are currently on their way to a tea party held by none other than the Mad Haberdasher! What surprises-and threats-await our Heroes at the tea party? Will the Mad Haberdasher (equipped with his constantly-changing odd-ball hats) be able to offer good advice on how to free young Aria from the Queen of Tarts? There is only one way to find out!

Mad Haberdashers are one thing. But Mad Scientists, too? Although slightly crazy, a new friendly face will appear in the town of Falconreach this weekend. Our Heroes will meet Lim, the town’s newest weapon smith! However, Lim believes that Science overpowers Magic-definitely not the typical belief held by the locals! This has caused quite an uproar in the magical lands of Lore. All the weapons Lim crafts are derived from Science and Technology, so our Heroes will have to make the decision of whether or not to help the Mad Scientist set up his power grid… without the use of magic whatsoever! If they accept, our players will journey below shop to Lim’s power grid where they will set-up the right sequence of switches & swatches in a classic dungeon-style zone!

For those who take stock in Lim’s beliefs, brand-new science-created items will be available for purchase starting this weekend. Various weapons ranging from chainsaws to chakrams and everything in-between will be accessible to those who agree to assist this Mad Scientist. It might be in our Heroes’ best interest to help the Mad Scientist out after all! These items will also vary in levels-up to level 50-allowing all Heroes the opportunity to equip Lim’s scientifically awesome battle-ready weapons!
