It’s hard work being the villain. Sure, there’s lots of glamor – secret volcano lairs, scores of minions racing to do your bidding, plans for world annihilation – but it can be a very lonely job. The bad guys in videogames are misunderstood and unappreciated, a fact the writers of these love letters clearly understand very, very well. These authors’ deep appreciation and affection for the baddest of the bad led them to pour their hearts out on paper, with some unsettling results. Wait, not unsettling – romantic. Yes, that’s it.
