So, people are offended that Gamestation has an ad about how their games are “Cheaper than your girlfriend”? That’s not offensive. It would be offensive if they claimed their games were more EXPENSIVE than your girlfriend. If your significant other is worth less than thirty British pounds, I think a slightly rude advertisement is the least of your problems.
Okay, it implies that the reader has a girlfriend, which omits married dudes, straight women, half of the guys in prison, and all priests. But is that really something to get worked up about? We’ve got an entire store full of games where grizzled white men kill thousands of people, and you’re upset that the advertising isn’t inclusive enough? This is like complaining that Mel Gibson’s racist tirade isn’t available with closed captioning for Spanish speakers.
