To celebrate the day that Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Peter Pan were released, we give you a short list of the best Disney movies to have been released.
Disney started it all with a bang. They released their first animated feature film in 1937 with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. This movie remains a classic to this day, mainly because children use it as an excuse to not eat an apple.
Peter Pan, released in 1953, is a great story of coming to terms with growing up. It’s also an object lesson as to why you shouldn’t mess with the Tinkerbell. Can you smell what the Tink is cooking?
The Sword in the Stone showed that you can’t judge a book by its cover. It also showed that squirrels have feelings too.
The classic film Robin Hood tells the tale of … well … Robin Hood. Join his merry band of men as they traipse around merry old England stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. I never expected Disney to release such Marxist rhetoric.
With Tron Disney paved the way for the future. When it was released it was not eligible for an Academy Award because of its use of computer generated graphics. Pretty forward thinking that Academy.
Disney’s The Little Mermaid was an amazing success. Disney has always been one to give their audience the best product imaginable and this was not an exception. Except for the part where they were just too lazy to give her legs for the beginning of the movie.
Toy Story was made with Disney and Pixar. A great pairing that has made both of them billions of dollars. A story of toys that come to life when people aren’t there, I’m still considering this a documentary.
Disney’s latest success Frozen was released in 2013. It is most famous for it refuting global warming and being Disney’s response to Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth.
