Take a look at some of the best cosplayers of Tokyo Game Show 2013.
While yesterday’s gallery offered you a glimpse into the game show itself, these pictures from Tokyo Game Show’s open-to-all “public days” are all about the cosplay. Japan is known for having a pretty dedicated cosplay scene, and the best of the best came out to play at TGS. Here’s a gallery of our favorite costumes. It is worth noting that TGS has very strict “prop” rules: no props longer than a certain length are allowed, which is why we are seeing some characters without their iconic weapons.
Let’s kick things off this not-so-dynamic duo.
Prepare for trouble.
Dragonball‘s popularity refuses to wane in Japan.
This Link had the full suite, including ocarina!
Master Chief showing off his guns.
Not sure who this fabulous knight was, but he sure was fabulous!
Roshi and Roshi fuse to make, Mega-Pervert!
The Frieza from before gets in on the fusion action.
I felt sorry for the poor girl in this costume suffering under the hot Tokyo sun.
Just as good as Mama!
Morrigan is always a popular choice at Japanese conventions.
The trainer from Pokemon Black and White.
“Faith, right?”
“Wow! You guys actually know who I am?”
Mirror’s Edge is not very popular in Japan…
But Street Fighter certainly is!
Attack on Titan has become a very popular anime in Japan lately.
The Dragon’s Crown girls appear, though, not as “well-endowed” as their in-game counterparts.
This Blanka was my favorite Street Fighter cosplay.
Sora looks almost naked without his signature keyblade.
Pyramid Head and his entourage.
Kid Icarus‘s Pit.
Some kind of gimp Toad???
This Eva is a friend of mine! Check out her cosplay website here.
The best part about cosplaying Ryu is you can take it easy, just sit around and “meditate”, and people think you’re just in-character.
Indie games like Journey are having a surge in popularity in Japan.
Not sure who this cardboard robot was, but he was happy to pose for me.
“Hi Vega. Oh, I mean, uh, Balrog? Can I take your picture?”
Wookie or Call of Duty soldier in a ghillie suit?
Hiding in plain sight.
Separately these costumes aren’t too spectacular, but they make a great group shot.
Here come the obligatory Final Fantasy shots!
Can’t rightfully have a cosplay gallery without at least one Cloud.
There was a time when Naruto characters would make up the bulk of any Japanese con. This time, there was just this lonely little Naruto.
I have no objection to the new prosecutor in the upcoming Ace Attorney 5.
Last but certainly not least, it’s Taiko no Tatsujin!
So what do you guys think, who was best in show? Personally, my vote lies with the two Master Roshis!
