Also included: A giant robot, the best Rocket/Groot of the day, and lots of Doctors. And of course you, because home was right here all along.
Day three of Comic-Con came and went with a bang. Starting with what is going down in history as the worst and most hellish Hall H line in history, and ending with the city of San Diego’s Gaslamp District became nigh unwalkable thanks to the army of exhausted conventioneers partying for the last time before heading home today, it was a blast, even if, you know, that Hall H line was positively awful.
As befits the busiest day of the convention, cosplayers were out in full force. So much so that we have too many images for just one gallery, when means you can expect to see all the photos in the coming days. We’ll start, however, with 24 of the funniest or just plain coolest stuff we saw while walking around and feeling like we were going to pass out. Enjoy.
First up, I’m beginning to suspect that Doctor Who? cosplay is really just an excuse for guys to pull out their best dressy clothing and wear it to a convention.
This is my second favorite costume and favorite favorite thing that I saw yesterday.
Sidenote: Even though the last season and a half of Futurama episodes on Fox were a study in diminishing returns, the finale was so awesome that it instantly made me sad the show went away again.
This costume is not only awesome, but I guarantee that Lady Flash would be a thousand times better than the Flash series airing this fall on the CW. (I saw the pilot. It’s terrible.)
4th Doctor? More like the Nth Doctor amirite? Because a lot of people dress as a Doctor, is my point.
Completely adorable Catwoman and Harley. Daw.
The guy in the middle isn’t advertising, I promise. On the back of that costume is a sign pointing out the fecal matter content in popular electronic devices. Ew.
Where’s puffy suit Iron Man?
One of my favorite things in the world is the proliferation of weird Boba Fett mashup outfits.
And now, my favorite costume of the con. Click to the next page to see why.
Unfortunately he couldn’t walk around when transformed into Dino-Grimlock, but it’s still the most awesome cardboard Transformer I’ve ever been personally in front of.
Some Clone Troopers, doing that clone thing. Edit: Yes, they also evoke Mandalorians, but to get their attention to ask to take this pic I shouted “Hey Clone Troopers!” at them and they didn’t correct.
A great couples costume. Rocket does look more terrifying than usual.
Everyone was in a hurry and being shouted at by security to keep moving, which truncated out conversation, but unless I heard wrong, I believe this is Deadpool-Venom standing next to this Rescue Ranger. UPDATE: It might be Agent Venom.
Also a great couples costume.
Spider-Woman and Spider-Man, reminding us that Spider-Woman’s costume is like the most 1970s thing ever designed.
I wasn’t able to find out if these two Ms. Martians were friends. I like to think yes.
So. Friggin. Awesome.
Ultramaaaannnn!
Basically a perfect Wreck-It-Ralph costume.
RIker was nice enough to let me photograph him headed to the head.
In other news, it’s kind of weird seeing how relatively rare Star Trek cosplay is now. Thanks JJ, thanks a lot. Also, thanks for sucking so much, Voyager and Enterprise.
This WWII Wonder Woman will single-handedly keep American industry strong during the war.
