8 of the Best Worst SyFy Movies

This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information

With the premier of Sharknado 2: The Second One, we give you eight other great SyFy movies. They aren’t all about sharks and tornadoes, one is about sharks that are ghosts. Heck, we even have a Mansquito. They’re so bad that they’re really bad.

SyFy’s Bermuda Tentacles features Linda Hamilton as an Admiral Hansen, she leads the US Navy as they work to save Air Force One when it goes down in the Bermuda Triangle. It’s not that easy, because then the Navy shows up they release their very own kraken. It’s nice to see that Linda Hamilton is still working.

Supergator was a 2007 film for the Sci-Fi Channel, before the name change. This schlock filled disaster was produced by Roger Corman, a man who has made a career of making SyFy quality films. The SyFy channel was custom made for Roger Corman movies, and this movie is a perfect example of that.

2013’s Chupacabra vs. The Alama pitted a pack of chupacabras against Erik Estrada and his gang of actors acting poorly. The movies leads up to a battle of epic proportions, at the Alamo, that would put Santa Ana to shame. Everything’s big in Texas, especially the invading chupacabras.

In 2012 SyFy brought us all the modern classic Piranhaconda, where they mixed a piranha and an anaconda. With a title like this you’d think that it would be terrifying, they mixed two of our greatest fears into one horrifying monster, and yet it’s so horrifically bad that you just can’t help but laugh.

From its title you’d think that Ghost Shark is just a reboot of the Bill Cosby classic Ghost Dad, but you’d be wrong. This tale starts with a shark that eats a fisherman’s catch, this doesn’t sit too well with the fisherman so he catches the shark and tortures it to death. Thank goodness there’s no shark afterlife, so it’s here to haunt the community.

SyFy’s Mega Python vs. Gatoroid features animal activism gone awry. A gang of animal activists release dozens of exotic pythons into the Everglades, they soon grow to unimaginable size and threaten the delicate ecosystem. That is until the pythons come up against giant mutated alligators. This is quite possibly SyFy’s answer to Citizen Kane.

Jersey Shore Shark Attack is what happens when sharks attack the Jersey Shore. This time around the sharks are attacking swimmers on New Jersey’s shore, which honestly could happen. The only issue is that this is one of the worst things ever produced by man. If you ever feel the need to waste two hours of your life then this is the movie for you.

If you thought it couldn’t get any worse, you’d be wrong. In 2005 SyFy brought us all the film Mansquito, a film that we all would be better off not having known was actually made. This reads like a very very shitty version of the Spider-Man origin, replace the spider with radiated mosquitoes. Just do yourself a favor and watch
