Editor’s Note: E3 2017 kicks off tomorrow, so we thought a look back at what we loved about E3 last year would be worthwhile. Let us know what you’re looking forward to this year in the forums!
E3’s wrapped up for the year and we’ve seen a lot of new games of all types announced at the years biggest game convention. This year has a great selection of games to choose from and it made it difficult to select only eight for this list. But, out of those games announced, here’s my personal favorite that I simply can’t wait to be released.
What games are you looking forward to that were talked about at E3? Comment and let us know!
Dishonored 2
Take Assassin’s Creed and throw in a Steampunk universe with new abilities and you had Dishonored. Dishonored 2 looks like it’s going to be just as much fun as the first one and I can’t wait to get my nerdy little hands on it.
Quake Champions
With the remakes of Doom, Wolfenstein and Unreal Tournament it’s nice that Quake wasn’t left out of the fun. Quake Live has been a heck of a lot of fun, especially for those old enough to have played it when it was new technology. Hoping to retain the sheer fun of Quake deathmatch with updated graphics, Quake Champions is one I’m certainly looking forward to.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole
You can love or hate South Park but their RPG was just silly fun. Sure, if you’re a fan of the show it goes to a whole new level of hilarity. The first RPG, South Park: The Stick of Truth, was a travel through the episodes of the show, playing through them with your own custom character. South Park: The Fractured But Whole takes it further by going on an adventure with everyone’s favorite super hero force: Coon and Friends on their quest to make one billion dollars with a super hero movie franchise.
Mass Effect Andromeda
I didn’t want to like this one. I’m one of those folks that loved Mass Effect but didn’t like that Shepard wasn’t returning (and still a little bitter about that travesty they called an ending for Mass Effect 3). However, I love the franchise and Bioware, does still make some nice looking games with a fun to play storyline. As such, I’m curious to see what Andromeda will bring to the Mass Effect universe.
Mafia 3
You can never go wrong with a Mafia game, and Mafia 3 is no exception. Taking place in 1968 during one of the most revolutionary periods in civil rights in the United States, and this time, instead of centralizing around the Italian families, you focus on one of the Black families from New Orleans. It’s an interesting idea and one I can’t wait to play.
For Honor
When your classes to choose from are a Viking, Knight and Samurai, how can you not want to find out more about that game? After watching the trailer for For Honor, it seems Ubisoft decided to have a little fun and pit three types of warriors against one another to see what happens.
Death Stranding
After the fallout that occurred between Hideo Kojima and Konami, the eyes of the industry have been focused on what project Mr. Kojima has been working on. Bringing in a fan favorite actor from The Walking Dead show Norman Reedus, Death Stranding‘s reveal trailer didn’t really offer a lot of what the game will be about, but knowing Kojima, it’s going to be one hell of a good survival horror game.
The Surge
I’m a sucker for Sci-fi action or RPG games and, from the look of the E3 trailer, this one is going to be a beautiful addition to my library. Instead of being just a shooter, running around blowing stuff up, you have an assortment of melee weapons to really get up close and personal with. It’s a fantasy RPG in a futuristic setting.
