The world is falling apart in Outlast 2 as Blake arrives at the Heretic compound. Here’s how to get through the first terrifying moments of Chapter 4.
Escaping the creepy dream that closes out Chapter 3, Blake finds himself within the mining complex. This chapter is, basically, one long chase sequence. Things don’t quite kick off yet, but the deeper you go, the worse the situation will be.
For now, the sky is raining blood. No big deal. Blood can’t hurt you. The Heretic compound is decorated with desecrated corpses, mangled bodies, and human excrement. It’s a bad time, all-around. Check out the gallery below to see (most) every grisly detail.

Things aren’t looking so good in the real world. Blood is raining from the sky. It looks like the apocalypse might really be happening here. Follow the stairs up and approach the main (large) building in the far distance.
On the main road, continue down the tracks toward the barbed wire blockade. Squeeze through the hanging bodies and barrels of severed limbs to find steps on the right. Go up and enter the interior room. The door will lock behind you.
Navigate the dark corners of this spooky interior. Go through the first two rooms, using the door underneath the bloody window, and continue beyond the rolling head. Take the stairs up near the body, and slip through the hooks and chains to the opposite end of the gap. Continue through the dark rooms. Don’t worry, it’s spooky, but there’s nothing here to kill you.
You’ll get ambushed in a bright corridor with a swinging chain, through an open doorway. The bloody man is actually here to help, and leads you to a narrow space. Follow him and squeeze through the opening to return to the school dream.
