Penny Arcade announces a $10,000 college scholarship fund.
At the recent Penny Arcade Expo (PAX), the creators of the popular online comic strip revealed more information on their new college scholarship fund.
Applicants will be required to have a 3.3 GPA or greater and must fill out an application, provide proof of the student’s current enrollment in an accredited college, letters of recommendation, and a copy of the applicant’s college transcript. The bulk of the entry will consist of a two page paper detailing how the contestant’s courses will be used to contribute to the game industry, the student’s personality, and his/her financial need. Each individual may only earn the scholarship once.
Penny Arcade is an online web comic founded by Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins. The partners founded the Penny Arcade Expo in 2004 and continue to host the festival in Bellevue, Washington. Starting in 2007, the scholarship’s winner will receive a $10,000 check at the end of the expo.
