The United Nation’s Food Force title is soon to be available in seven languages.
The World Food Programme (WFP), the world’s largest humanitarian agency and a division of the United Nations, revealed that their title, Food Force, is going to be available in French, Hungarian and Chinese by October 19th. These languages will be joining the already existing Japanese, Italian, Polish, and English versions.
Food Force is a free downloadable title that is funded wholly by donations from the video game industry and other charitable organizations. Originally, the title was developed by Italian developer Deepend and programmed in London. The French version is funded by developer and publisher Ubisoft, who will release the game on October 15th. On October 13th, Hungary will receive a version from the European Commission’s development agency, ECHO. Shanda Interactive Entertainment Limited, a popular Chinese media company, will release the Chinese version on October 19th.
Players are given the task of managing an underdeveloped nation and providing for its people by raising money and performing charitable work. Since the first release in April 2005, over four and a half million people have downloaded the game.
