The Art Institute Online has opened a digital campus in Second Life, which will offer a Business Communications course.
Professors at the Art Institute responsible for designing the course hope to mesh students’ interest in Second Life with their interest in the subject. Classes will be populated with each person’s digital representation of their character, called an avatar.
The class will take full advantage of the 3-D digital environment during instruction, ranging from traditional, lecture-type learning to the use of simulation. In an environment like Second Life, it is easy to arrange any number of projects or situations that mimic a real-world state of affairs.
The Art Institute Online is a division of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.
