2K Games has announced the forthcoming release of Sid Meier’s Civilization IV: Gold Edition for the PC.
The Gold Edition of Civilization IV will include the original game and the first expansion pack, Civilization IV: Warlords, as well as numerous bonus items. A fantasy-style poster by artist Greg Hildebrandt will be included with the package, along with a behind-the-scenes DVD that includes interviews, a look at the Civilization IV development process, and a brief history of Sid Meier’s career in the industry. A tech-tree poster will also be included.

Gamers will now have the chance to change the course of world history and relive battles from every era of the past with both Civilization IV games in one box.?€? The second Civilization IV expansion, Beyond the Sword, is expected to be released soon after.
First released in 1991, Sid Meier’s Civilization series has sold over eight million copies and is widely regarded as one of the greatest strategy franchises of all time. The most recent addition to the series, Civilization IV was released in 2005 and went on to win numerous Game of the Year awards. Sid Meier’s Civilization IV: Gold Edition is scheduled for release on July 17.
