Under an upcoming government-industry deal, all games released in Quebec will be translated into French.
Government officials in the Canadian province of Quebec have struck a deal with the videogame industry to ensure that all games distributed within the territory are translated into French.
Sources in the Canadian media said the ongoing negotiations are near completion. Under the reported deal, game distributors will pay for the translations. A government official said details will be made public within weeks.
Canada’s second-largest province, Quebec is also the only province where the majority of the population are French Canadian and where English is not an official language.
