Microsoft and Target team to sponsor a NASCAR car during the Nextel Cup Series.
Following the recent trend started by Nintendo and Sony to promote gaming at car racing events, Microsoft, retail chain Target and Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS) announced that the No. 40 car in the Dover 400 Nextel Cup Series will sport a custom Halo 3 paint job. Driver David Stemme will be driving the Master Chief mobile on Sunday, September 23 at the Dover International Speedway. Additionally, Target and Microsoft will be providing NASCAR drivers the opportunity to test Halo 3 prior to its public release.
“I’m honored and excited to be running the Halo 3 car at Dover and can’t wait to show off this awesome paint scheme,” said Stremme. “It’s going to be a special experience when the car rolls off the truck for the first time at Dover – as a Halo fan, I’m thrilled.”
“Target is proud to partner with Microsoft to bring some Halo 3 excitement to Dover race fans before the much anticipated release date. We expect this to be one of our largest gaming releases ever,” said Target Senior Buyer Troy Peterson.
