Strauss Zelnick, chairman of Grand Theft Auto IV publisher Take-Two, sought to clarify comments made last week about the time frame for the game’s release.
Last week at a business conference, Zelnick said a date could not yet be announced for the latest installment in the popular and controversial series.
Some media outlets took the announcement to mean that the previously-declared launch window of February to April 2008 was null and void.
Zelnick said that is not the case, adding he merely wanted to avoid providing a specific date.
“I wasn’t intending to be newsworthy,” Zelnick said. “When asked about the release date, I confirmed the previous release date we’d given, which is our second fiscal quarter. That’s to say sometime between the beginning of February and the end of April.”
