Nintendo has released numbers for the console’s sales in the week including Black Friday, which are the best since since the system’s launch.
While Sony was only willing to reveal percentages, Nintendo released hard numbers, stating that 350,000 consoles were sold during the seven-day period that includes Black Friday.
The Wii was difficult to find at stores for many consumers, including Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime.
“I couldn’t find a single Wii system on the shelves – literally as I was walking into a Wal-Mart at 11 a.m., someone was walking out with the last one,” Fils-Aime told the associated press. “Consumers are buying every game we can put into the system.”
Fils-Aime also stated that he had gone out personally to try to gauge the system’s availability.
Nintendo’s portable DS system also fared well, selling over 650,000 units during the week of Thanksgiving, but not breaking any records.
