A Gamer’s Valentine, an industry-focused auction hosted by TAP Interactive, has raised over $10,000 in donations for Duke Children’s Hospital and Health Center in North Carolina.
Held on January 31 at Raleigh’s White Collar Crime, the Research Triangle area’s first ever bachelor and bachelorette auction featured employees of Red Storm Entertainment, Themis Group, Destineer Studios, Vicious Cycle, NWN Corporation and The Escapist magazine, and raised nearly $6,000 in financial donations and over 100 videogames and consoles valued at over $4,000. Dates for the winning bidders were donated by the Carolina Hurricanes, Big Boss Brewing Company, Goodnight’s Comedy Club, Adventure Landing, Scooterz Inc., Five Star Restaurant, Parizade, Vin Rouge, Dead Broke Farm, Duck & Dumpling, The Raleigh Times Bar, and The Pit. Nearly 150 people attended the event, including representatives from Epic Games, Icarus Studios and Emergent Game Technologies.
“We are thrilled at the amazing response from the local industry,” said Alex Macris, CEO of TAP Interactive parent Themis Group. “All of us here are overjoyed to have helped spearhead an event that has benefited such a great cause. With the rapid expansion of the local game development, we hope this is only the first of many events benefiting the Triangle.”
