Solidifying its relationship with Epic, Sega announced that it signed a new licensing deal for the Unreal Engine today.

Sega of America signed the deal for the Unreal Engine 3 for an as-yet-unannounced cross-platform game. It first entered a licensing agreement with Epic to develop numerous titles with the engine in May of last year.

While no specific dates or even platforms were announced, Dave Cobb, vice president of development for Sega of America, said the games would be “original and exciting next-generation multi-platform titles.”

Epic hailed the deal as one that would enable Sega to enhance its reputation.

“Sega has cultivated some of the world’s most treasured game franchises, and we are thrilled that they have decided to make more games with Unreal Engine 3,” said Mark Rein, vice president of Epic Games. “Epic is committed to supporting Sega with exceptional tools and technologies so it may continue to build upon its successes.”
