Fans looking forward to Remedy’s long-awaited Alan Wake will soon be treated to a brand-new promotional trailer for the game – but only if they happen to live in Finland.
The trailer will be screened in advance of the new Max Payne movie, first during a special preview showing on October 15 and then again on the movie’s official opening weekend, which begins October 17. Max Payne, of course, is the predecessor to Alan Wake and the game that put Remedy Entertainment on the map, and if you’re wondering why Finland of all places was chosen to premiere the trailer, the answer is simple: It’s Remedy’s home country.
Very little has been heard about Alan Wake in the years since its 2005 announcement, although Remedy CFO Mika Reini recently posted a message in the Alan Wake forums assuring gamers that work was progressing. The game is currently scheduled for release in 2008, although no firm date has yet been set and I’ll be amazed if it actually happens.
Fortunately, gamers in the rest of the world won’t have to wait long to see the latest Alan Wake action for themselves: Remedy has promised to release the trailer online “shortly” after its theatrical debut.
