Banking on the idea that upcoming zombie apocalypse simulator Left 4 Dead 2 will be its most profitable game ever, Half-Life creator Valve Software today announced plans to sink $25 million into a complementary ad campaign for the title.

“Based on the strength of pre-orders, Left 4 Dead 2 will be the fastest-selling product in Valve’s history,” said Valve head Gabe Newell in a press release trumpeting the landmark budgetary expenditure.

“We’ll be supporting Left 4 Dead 2’s launch with a $25 million campaign,” adds Valve’s vice-president of marketing Doug Lombardi. “Left 4 Dead 2 has already set the record for greatest number of pre-orders in our company’s history, and we’re still over a month out from shipping.”

Though details on what all that cash would be aimed at were scarce, the press release says ads for the game will appear on Monday Night Football and UFC broadcasts, roadside signage and the standard “popular lifestyle and gaming sites.”

L4D2 is scheduled for release on the Xbox 360 and PC platforms on November 17. Expect this press release to herald the upcoming deluge of advertisements that a more poetically inclined journalist would liken to wave after wave of shambling, decomposing undead.
